Fireplace Bench - No. 13

In late 19th century England, fireplace benches became popular in the 'club room' of private in-town mens clubs. The club room was tipically for cards and billards and drinking. Hence the term "Club Fender" in reference to the fireplace bench added there for comfort and crowds. Such benches were so rare before Victoria that these were un-named as a furniture genre, hence..."Old English Fireplace Bench" aptly denotes the period design of our benches.
